The Alamo in San Antonio, Texas

This is Show Family 2: Today we visited the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. It was a beautiful building, made of limestone. The walls were very thick and the doorways seemed very tall to us. This used to be a church and then it was used as a fort. It was easy to imagine lots of people living here together, and it would have been very tight quarters because the place is not very big for the number of people who did share this space.

It was built in the 1700's. Then in 1836, there was a big fight between Mexico and the people that lived in Texas because the people in Texas wanted to be free from Mexico. The people from Texas were inside of this fort during the big fight. Most of the people inside the fort died during this fight. This place is now a memorial for those people.
